3 Day Strike Looming at AT&T West and Mobility

Good Jobs at AT&T Mobility

Like most of my 40,000 coworkers at AT&T and AT&T Mobility I have never been on strike before, but we just announced we are walking off the job on Friday if we don’t get a fair contract.

If we strike, will you take a stand with us against corporate power in support of working people fighting for a better life? Join us at a picket line at a nearby AT&T retail store, either this Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If we strike, it will be short – we will return to work on Monday.

RSVP to let us know you’ll be there! Click here to see a list of picket locations. (We’ll be back in touch to let you know if we don’t strike.)

If you can’t join us on the picket line, click here now to send an email to CEO Randall Stephenson to say you stand with workers fighting for good jobs.

I’ll be honest, striking is a scary step to take. It’s a sacrifice. Wireless workers like me have seen our salaries eroded, and our benefits get more and more expensive. It’s getting almost impossible to make ends meet working at AT&T Mobility. We have to take a stand to say working people can’t be used and abused while companies make billions off our backs.

We hope you join our fight at a picket line either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Click here for a list of picket lines.

If we do strike on Friday, we will be striking to protect our jobs (which are being outsourced left and right), preserve affordable health care, and stop our wages from stagnating. The strike would include 21,000 retail and call center workers at AT&T Wireless across the country, and 19,000 AT&T West landline and DIRECTV workers in California and Nevada, along with landline workers in Connecticut.

This will be the biggest strike in the United States since 40,000 Verizon workers walked out last year and won big improvements after 49 days. Verizon workers were joined by allies at retail stores up and down the East Coast. This solidarity was essential in helping us win that strike.

We’ll be back in touch to let you know if the company settles a fair contract with us or if we have to walk on Friday. We hope you will join us on the picket line if we strike this weekend.Thank you for your support!
